Bible stories equip Africans as Bible teachers
Earlier this year, we shared a story about a pastor in Uganda who calls himself “a soldier with no bullets.” Since he learned to keep God’s word in his heart through the Heart Bible for the Nations, Thomas’ church, which sits in a refugee camp, has been transformed. His congregants’ faith was strengthened as they hid the Bible in their hearts, they began to share their faith more often and the church started to grow! Now, Thomas has grown a desire to equip other churches, too.
He has begun equipping other leaders with Heart Bible for the Nations alongside OneWay missionary JP Lindsey. Recently, Thomas returned to his hometown in Yambio with JP to partner with the local bishop to teach the churches Heart Bible for the Nations. This was the first time Thomas has seen his home in six years.
“Thomas has been a great friend and spiritual example for me,” JP said. “I have learned from his incredible humility and zealous heart for the gospel. He has proved to be one of the best Heart Bible teachers I’ve found in Africa and has encouraged me greatly. Several times God has used him to speak directly to my heart when I’ve been discouraged. I’m so thankful for Thomas.”
The Lord has continued to bless Heart Bible for the Nations in Africa. The team’s goal for this year is to provide training in Africa to 1,000 leaders and 300 churches in 15 countries. As of July 2024, 500 leaders and 125 churches have been trained and 10 countries have been reached! Praise the Lord for the gospel work that is happening in Africa!
