While he was visiting Kurdistan, JP Lindsey met a young refugee who had never heard the gospel before. The woman, an 18-year-old soccer player, had joined the Kurdish paramilitary because of the oppression she faced as a Kurdish woman who believed in the \u201cwrong kind\u201d of Islam. Before talking to JP, she didn\u2019t know anything about Jesus. All she knew was that she didn\u2019t like religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWell, you’re in luck,\u201d JP told her, \u201cbecause Jesus didn’t like religion either.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After talking for a while, JP decided to tell the young woman the story of Jairus from Mark 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When he got to the part where Jairus\u2019s servants tell him that his daughter is dead, she gasped and almost began to cry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cShe was so into the story,\u201d JP said. \u201cI had to tell her \u2018just keep listening.\u2019 She was so engaged. She never heard anything like that before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
JP had to leave soon after he finished his story. But before he left, he told the young woman that Jesus was focused on having a relationship with her, not on religion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI couldn’t do anything else with her because we had no time,\u201d JP said. \u201cBut I knew she has that story. She has God’s Word in her heart.\u201d He takes confidence in Isaiah 55:10\u201311:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
